As part of our physical education curriculum, Chinook Center School students will be going curling at the Innisfail Curling Rink. Your child will require comfortable clothing and running shoes, and the “Little Rockers” curling club will supply us with the rest of our equipment for the day. Please dress your child to be comfortable on the ice for 45 minutes!
We will be curling on Friday, January 27 and Friday, February 3 during the morning, and will be bussing to the curling rink and back again to the school.
Each class will be assigned a time slot of 45 minutes to curl as follows:
9:00-9:45 Miss Teare & Mrs. Ramsell (Gr 3/4)
9:45-10:30 Mrs. Sparks (Gr 2)
10:30-11:15 Mrs. Hollman (Gr 1)
Due to the increased student interest in cross country running as well as the excellent display of effort put forth by the students in preparation for our Annual Terry Fox Run, we started up an optional Cross Country Running Team similar to Fit Club, where students in grades 2-4 run every Tuesday during the month of October from 3:30 pm- 4:15 pm weather permitting. Running Club dates for this year are: Tuesday, October 4 Tuesday, October 11 Tuesday, October 18 Tuesday, October 25.
Students of Chinook Center School well surpassed their goal for the National Terry Fox Run this year, as the school goal was $300 and the students raised a grand total of $1904.85!!! Teachers were very happy with the outcome and the effort put forth by all of our Chinook Center School families. However….since the students raised their goal for Terry’s Challenge all of the teachers of CCS had to kiss a goat and dress like a goat! Way to go CCS!
Staff and students of Chinook Center School have been fundraising throughout the month of September in order to fulfill Terry’s Challenge in which one lucky school who completes their goal could possibly WIN a visit from Terry’s brother, Fred Fox! Chinook Center’s Challenge is “If students of Chinook Center School raise $300.00…the CCS staff will kiss a GOAT!” Students will be participating in National School Run Day on Wednesday, September 28th and the day schedule will be:
11:30-12:00 Gather on the playground to kiss the goat!
1:00-1:30 Terry Fox Motivational Kick-off Video!
1:30-2:30 Walking down to Tire Park
Running for 20 minutes
Water & Oranges for the Participants
Walk back to our school
Students are asked to have all of their pledge forms in no later than Tuesday, September 27th so that we can find out our schools totals, and if your family would still like to donate and chose not to fundraise there will be a “Tin for Terry” on Mrs. Willigar’s desk.
Thanks so much for all of your support!
Congratulations students of Chinook Center School, for all of your hard work over the last 8 weeks during the Wonder Fitness Challenge! We were one of the lucky recipients of $100 worth of new frisbees, basketballs, soccer balls and volleyballs for our school. Great job boys and girls!
This year the grade four students in Miss Teare’s class took home the Chinook Center Cup. They clearly demonstrated this in that they were CCS- Cooperative, Caring & Safe throughout the entire floor hockey unit. Although there were some great contenders, this year Miss McBride presented the cup to the grade four’s. Congratulations guys and good luck to all of next year’s contenders!
